The Duchess of
Cambridge has given birth to a baby girl. Kensington Palace
announced that the new Princess of Cambridge was born at:
8.34 am Saturday 2nd of May, 2015
The Duchess was admitted to the Lindo Wing at 6am London time.
The statement by The
Duke and Duchess via twitter read:
"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.
The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed.
Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
It is expected
Catherine and the new baby princess will stay in hospital until tomorrow
and will then return home to apartment 1A Kensington Palace where big
brother George will be waiting to greet them.
Nanny Maria Teresa
Borrallo will continue to care for George and no doubt add an extra
pair of hands in these next few days.
Prince William will
take the standard two weeks paternity leave from East Anglia
Ambulance Service. He will not return to his flying duties until early June due to a number of royal engagements planned.
