Downunder Souvenirs List

Saturday 17th January, 2015

George and his new toy bilby
Young Prince George of Cambridge received many and varied gifts during the Cambridge family tour of Australia and New Zealand last April. But his parents were also given presents for him during their trips to Malta and the United States.

A gift list from the family's tours abroad in 2014 was released by Clarence House this week.

In Australia and New Zealand, George was the recipient of an enormous toy wombat, a possum skin cloak, sheepskin boots, a surfboard, a skateboard, an Easter egg, a toy bilby, a bicycle, a boat, polo mallet, a cricket bat, numerous books, miscellaneous toys and several sports jerseys.

At a New York fundraiser, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were given a mini academic gown from the learning institution where they met- St Andrew's University. No doubt this will be treasured.

These items are just a few of the larger gifts. While most of the smaller offerings are often donated to local charities you can be assured that some of those presents listed above will be kept by the family.

George Snippets

28th November, 2014

A leaked portrait of the Cambridge family (above) has surfaced on Twitter. The photograph was taken for an official thank you card for the Australian and New Zealand visit earlier in the year.

The shot was taken in March by Jason Bell and was most likely done at the same time as the official pre-tour family photo seen below.

There has not been much official news or sightings of Prince George recently. Most attention has been paid to his mum Catherine who is expecting a new baby in April.

But Prince William has shared some lovely quotes about his son over recent weeks.

Malta, Mid September
Representing The Queen in Malta, William told President Marie Louise Coliero Preca that it was just as well Prince George had not accompanied him. Admiring a beautiful room in San Anton Palace, the Duke said:

"Malta may not survive baby George. There are a lot of precious things here."

Imperial War Museum, 12th November
Attending a dinner in his role as Royal Patron, SkillForce, Prince William was presented with Christmas bells by a group of school children.

Commenting that the bells would be useful in keeping tabs on young George, William remarked:

"We'll put these in his pockets. Then we'll know where he is in the house!"

Baby Due In April

20th October, 2014
Catherine and William

Clarence House today advised that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's second child is expected in April 2015.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April 2015.
The Duchess of Cambridge continues to be affected by Hyperemesis Gravidarum, but her condition is steadily improving."

Catherine and William will today greet the President of Singapore and his wife as part of a State Visit. The meeting will take place at the Royal Garden Hotel which is next door to Kensington Palace. William and Catherine are also expected to attend more formal parts of the State Visit today.

The Duchess' future attendance at engagements is on a case by case basis depending upon her morning sickness.

Since the pregnancy was announced on the 8th September, several royal visits have been cancelled including that of her first solo overseas visit to Malta. Prince William took Catherine's place on that occasion.

Late last week, Catherine and William were photographed attending her obstetrician's rooms for the 12 week scan.
