Gorgeous George Meets Obamas

United States President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle dined with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry on Friday night.

The Cambridges hosted the dinner in their apartment in Kensington Palace for the President who is nearing the end of his presidency. Obama, who is on a farewell visit to the UK also met with the Queen at Windsor Castle for lunch.

Prince George was allowed to extend his bedtime by a few minutes so he could meet the Obamas. Dressed in his pyjamas, slippers and white robe, George greeted his visitors and then showed them how he can ride the rocking horse Barack and Michelle gave him at the time of his birth.

Princess Charlotte, who will be turning one in a few weeks, was tucked in bed so was not able to join the gathering.

Then it was off to bed for the young prince and the five adults were left to enjoy the evening.

Historic Stamps For The Queen's 90th Birthday

source: Royal Mail
The Royal Mail has released a series of stamps and products to commemorate the Queen's 90th birthday on 21st April.

A group photograph of the four generations of monarch and heirs was taken mid last year. As a result, the Queen, Prince of Wales, Prince William and Prince George each feature in stamps in the series.

To ensure that Prince George was at just the right height, he stood on a pile of blocks! He was in the same outfit that he wore to meet new sister Princess Charlotte at St Mary's Hospital and again for the first portrait of the siblings taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continued their week long tour of India and Bhutan yesterday.

The royal couple made a six hour trek to Bhutan's Tiger's Nest monastery which is 3000m up a mountain side. BBC's Peter Hunt asked William if he was missing his children:

"Massively yes, of course. And we're looking forward to seeing them," he said. "They're in good hands."

The prince said that he and his wife Catherine had spoken to George and Charlotte "many times".

This has been the longest time the Duke and Duchess have been parted from two year old George and Charlotte who will be one in a few weeks.

According to Hello magazine:
The Tiger's Nest monastery is considered the most important Buddhist temple in Bhutan. It was built in 1692 and is located close to the cave where Guru Padmasambhava – who is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan – is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks and three days in the eighth century.

The royal party has just landed in Agra where William and Catherine will tour the Taj Mahal.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently on a tour India and next Bhutan. The couple arrived in Mumbai on the 10th of April and yesterday Catherine admitted to missing her children.

George and Charlotte have stayed home at Amner Hall where their nanny will keep them in a routine which includes the little prince attending nursery school a few mornings a week.

William and Catherine were in Pan Bari village when the duchess spoke of her little ones.

As reported in the express.co.uk:

"The Duchess told locals that Prince George is very cheeky, and said seeing all the little girls dancing in the village reminded her of Princess Charlotte.
She said she is feeling sad today because she is missing her children, but added that she will bring George and Charlotte with her next time she visits India.

Charlotte's Special Flower

A chrysanthemum named in honour of Princess Charlotte is going on sale in Waitrose on the young royal's 1st birthday, 2nd May. 50p from every sale will be donated to one of the Duchess of Cambridge's charities.

The Telegraph newspaper reported on the flower as follows:

A pink flower named after the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is being exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The Princess Charlotte chrysanthemum, which is baby pink with green tips, is also going on sale at branches of supermarket Waitrose.
The bloom has been produced by Dutch company Deliflor, the world's largest chrysanthemum breeder. It delivered a bouquet of the chrysanthemums to the new royal parents shortly after Princess Charlotte's birth.

It will go on sale for £8 at 180 Waitrose branches from May 2, Princess Charlotte's first birthday, with 50p donated to East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) for every plant sold.
The Duchess, 34, is royal patron of the charity, which cares for children with life-threatening conditions and supports their families.

Waitrose's horticultural Buyer Tracey Telford said: "We're happy to be able to support such a worthwhile charity and we're sure that the Princess Charlotte chrysanthemum, with its beautiful pale pink petals, will be popular with customers this Spring.
"We're also hoping that it will prove a popular bloom at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May."

EACH's Karen Newton said: "We are delighted that Waitrose have chosen to support us through sales of these beautiful flowers.
"This generous gesture from Waitrose will ensure we can continue to deliver vital services."
Deliflor chose the royal floral tribute at the suggestion of Johan Heemskerk after its annual social media competition to name a new variety.

Explaining his choice, Mr Heemskerk said: "It was the day after the baby princess was named and as the flower was baby pink, I felt 'Charlotte' would be a good name.
"The British royal family and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in particular, are immensely popular in The Netherlands."

The Princess Charlotte Chrysanthemum is the latest in a long line of flowers named after members of the Royal Family.

Charlotte And George News

Prince William has proudly told how his daughter Princess Charlotte is already kicking a football.

"She's a very good footballer. You hold her hand and she kicks it," William said. "Very sweet".

William was attending a reception at Wembley Stadium in his capacity as President of the Football Association (FA). Charlotte will celebrate her first birthday on May 2nd.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales has spoken about his love of gardening in a BBC Radio 4 broadcast. Charles has already had grandson Prince George help him plant two trees at Highgrove House. He expressed his hope that his grandchildren will come to love gardening as much as he himself does.

In fact Charles and sister Anne were given small plots of land to care for at Buckingham Palace when they were young children.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will start their 6 day tour of India and Bhutan on April 10th. Their children will remain at Anmer Hall with their nanny and stick to a routine which includes George attending nursery school a few mornings a week.
