The Duchess of Cambridge's sister Pippa has given birth to a baby boy! Pippa and husband James Matthews welcomed their little boy at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital where Catherine and William choose to have their children.

Only three days before the birth, Pippa and James attended Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding at Windsor Castle. 

Catherine and Pippa's brother James has visited his new nephew and no doubt Carole and Michael Middleton have visited too!

Baby Matthews arrived on Monday 15th October at 1.58pm. The boy weighed 8lb 9oz.

Happy Birthday Prince George

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born on July 22nd, 2013 at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. George is the first child and eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and upon his birth became third in line to the British throne after grandfather Prince Charles and dad Prince William.

George was several days overdue prompting media and well-wishers to dub the lead up as the "Great Kate Wait". On the hottest day of the summer, George arrived and he left hospital the following day with his dad William and mum Catherine. 

George's early weeks were spent at Catherine's parents' home Bucklebury Manor in Berkshire. Grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton offered their daughter seclusion and much needed hands on support. The Cambridge home at this time was Nottingham Cottage (now home to Prince Harry), Kensington Palace. It is quite small and the family's new home,  Apartment 1A was still being renovated.

The couple was determined to eschew a nanny and intent on being hands on parents. After a few months it became clear that help would be needed if the Duke and Duchess were to undertake their royal duties and also William's role as RAF Search and Rescue pilot in Wales. William and Harry's childhood nanny Jessie Webb was enlisted to help the couple on a part time basis. 

By February the following year, a full-time nanny Maria-Teresa Turrion Borrallo was hired and has been with the family ever since. Maria has been a huge support as the family has grown and the Cambridge's royal roles have evolved

At the age of 2 1/2 George commenced nursery school in Norfolk, near the family home Anmer Hall. Anmer became their main base from the time Charlotte was born until last July when the family returned to London.

George started formal school at Thomas's Battersea in September and has now completed his reception year. The prince has loved all forms of transport since he was little and in particular helicopters which he sees quite often coming and going from royal homes. 

George has joined his parents on royal tours to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Poland and Germany.

Prince Louis Christening Countdown

Prince Louis will be christened on Monday and royal watchers are keen to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their three youngsters for the first time.

Louis has not been publicly seen since he was born at St Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing on April 23rd. Prince George who is almost 5 and Princess Charlotte, 3 have finished school and preschool for the summer holidays and will join their little brother for his big day.

The baptism will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace, London at 4pm.  Prince Charles and the Middleton family are due to attend along with the godparents who have yet to be named. 

Prince Harry missed the christening of Charlotte but will attend with new wife the Duchess of Sussex. 

Having visited the Chapel exterior myself last July, I can share photos of the large window that fronts the street and the narrow passage where the family will walk from St James's Palace itself to the Chapel. 

The Lily Font will be brought from the Tower of London and water from the River Jordan are traditionally used. Prince Louis will wear a replica of the Honiton lace gown. The original was first used by Queen Victoria's daughter and then worn by royal babies since, including Prince William himself. Prince Edward's son James, Viscount Severn was the first royal baby to use the replica gown.

Prince Louis' Australia Post Stamp Issue

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's new baby was born on 23rd April, 2018. To celebrate the event, Australia Post is issuing a stamp in Prince Louis' honour. 

The stamp, which features a photo of William, Catherine and Louis as they left St Mary's Hospital hours after the birth, will be issued on 3rd July.

George And Charlotte Meet The Baby

Prince William brought Prince George and Princess Charlotte to St Mary's Hospital to meet their new baby brother just after 5pm. 

George was a little shy as usual and still dressed in his school uniform. Charlotte smiled and waved to the waiting media and did not seem phased at all.

Baby Countdown

Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge have been out of the public eye since September when George started school at Thomas's Battersea.

The little prince was accompanied on his first day by dad Prince William but mum Catherine was suffering from extreme morning sickness and had to stay home in bed. 

William and George's arrival at Thomas's was captured by the press and Kensington Palace issued a photo of the two princes standing on the front steps of their home. 

Likewise, Charlotte commenced preschool
at Willcocks Nursery School not far from home in Kensington in early January. Press photographers were not in attendance but again the Palace released two gorgeous photos of the two year old princess taken by the Duchess of Cambridge. 

We really haven't seen much of the children since the Cambridge tour of Germany and Poland last July. But the coming months will present more opportunities to see the little ones. 

In April, the third Cambridge baby is due and it is expected that Catherine will again give birth in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's hospital in Paddington.  

As well as a photo opportunity on the steps of the hospital, it is hoped new photos will be issued to mark the arrival of this new prince or princess. Charlotte will turn three on May 2nd.

If that isn't enough excitement for the family and royal watchers, Prince Harry will wed Ms. Meghan Markle at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on 19th May. George and Charlotte may well play a role as pageboy and flower girl just as they did for Aunty Pippa last May.

And then there will be the baby's christening approximately three months after his or her birth as well as Trooping the Colour at Buckingham Palace in early June.

Looking Back At 2015

2015 has been a very special year for the Cambridge family.

On May 2nd, the Duke and Duchess welcomed Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana into the world. Prince William has described her as "ladylike" and "a little joy of heaven".

Brother Prince George has been seen more often in public throughout the year. In only the third time he had made a public appearance in Britain, George was taken by William to St Mary's Hospital to meet baby sister Charlotte. 

Then he was seen at The Trooping The Colour ceremony for the first time in June, wearing the clothes his father William wore on the same occasion in 1984. 

Also that month came a trip to watch his dad and Uncle Harry play polo where George kept his mum Catherine busy following him around.

Finally on July 5th George attended his sister's Christening at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Queen's Sandringham Estate. It is also the place where George and Charlotte's grandmother the late Diana, Princess of Wales was christened in 1961. George wore an almost identical outfit to that which William wore to meet Prince Harry at St Mary's Hospital in 1984.

There have of course been photos released when Charlotte was a month old, her Christening, George's second birthday, Charlotte at six months and a group photo for Christmas. 

The family is dividing it's time between Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate and their apartment in Kensington Palace. 

Amner is where they prefer to be as it offers a relaxed country lifestyle that is important to both Catherine and William. George will start at a nearby nursery next month.

In The Spotlight: Catherine's Gynaecologist

In the lead up to the birth of Catherine and William's second baby in April, we look at a key member of the medical team caring for The Duchess.

Alan Farthing is Surgeon-Gynaecologist to the Royal Household who has taken over from Marcus Setchell. Mr Setchell was the due to retire as the Royal Surgeon-Gynaecologist when The Duchess of Cambridge was pregnant with Prince George. He delayed retirement to care for Catherine in her difficult first pregnancy.

Mr Farthing has monitored Catherine throughout the debilitating hyperemesis gravidarum she has again endured.

The severe form of morning sickness was not treated until Catherine was very ill and weak during her early pregnancy with Prince George and this required a hospital stay. 

As her medical team was alert to a recurrence of the condition in subsequent pregnancies, The Duchess was promptly treated with anti-emetics (anti nausea drugs) and fluids at home in Kensington Palace.

Mr Farthing was born in Hampshire in 1963. He trained at St George's Hospital Medical School in London and qualified as a doctor in 1986. Farthing was appointed as consultant gynaecologist at St Mary's Hospital (where William and George were born) in 1997. He is also consultant at Imperial College, London,
Queen Charlotte's Hospital in Shepherd's Bush and The Wellington Hospital, St John's Wood. 

In 2008 he was appointed to assist Mr Setchell and as mentioned above, he has now taken over the role. Mr Farthing also has a private practice in Harley Street and his specialty is gynaecological oncology and also keyhole surgery.
